How High-Quality Ash Trays Are Manufactured

Ashtrays are used for simple purposes, but special care should be taken in their production. Their practical utility is closely tied to their design. Good ashtrays are typically not damaged and are durable enough to last for years.

There are certain benefits of each material. Glass presents evidence of ash formation, which is easily cleaned. Ceramic accepts different decorative finishes. Metal will not break on drops and impacts. Good manufacturers select materials based on the intended application. Delicate glass may be employed as decorative ashtrays. Melting and Forming

Glass ashtray production begins with melting raw materials. Furnace temperatures of up to 1500 °C cause sand, soda ash, and limestone to mix. The clay is made hard forever by bisque firing. The heat of kilns ranges between 900 °C and 1100 °C. Changes in the chemical composition of the clay form the hardening and porous nature. Glazing will provide color, pattern, and waterproof qualities. Liquid glaze is either dipped, sprayed, or brushed. A second firing of an object causes the glaze to become glass-like.

Polishing
